Kinds of plots/threads you prefer? Avoid?
I like to think I have bursts of creativity sometimes, but most of the time I prefer plot ideas get thrown at me. Not every detail has to be planned out either so long as I'm in the loop and we're generally on the same page.
As far as avoiding goes? Directionless meet and greets. If its starting to lead nowhere I lose interest fast. Also, I don't like threads where characters purposefully antagonize my character constantly without a reason for it or plots/threads that feel like an excuse to show off which character is more powerful or beautiful, who has it worse, ect and nothing else.
Relationships development?
Canon relationships and backgrounds should be respected, but the future isn't set in stone. Whatever you throw at me is usually fine, so long as its not 'instant tru luv' or anything (unless they get along really well). Romance wise, I'm all for platonic friendship, kinship, ect. Don't ship a whole lot of stuff though.
Handling combat / injuries?
I love fights. It depends on the characters though. Some characters are more highly-skilled than others and some are weaker. I always use some form of the word 'attempt' if my character is making any kind of attack or overture towards yours. It's no fun playing with someone who doesn't allow their character to take a few hits.
Autohits? Autokills?
Minor autohits like shoving, scratching, slapping, biting, pulling and stuff I'm generally fine with so long as I determine how bad the damage is (since damage does depend on the character) and if it makes sense for the scene. Kicking, punching, full on fights with serious injury, maiming, torture? Talk with me first. If I disagree with it and nothing's been discussed I'll warn you first that you dun goof'd. If you keep doing it, and I feel there's a feasible way for my character to void the action, I'll ignore the action and pretend it was an attempt. After that, if it keeps happening, you're gonna have a bad time. Don't autokill unless its discussed first.
Godmoding / Powerplay?
Soo... this one's a mixed bag for me. I'd greatly prefer you don't make assumptions about my characters in any way and I'll do the same for yours. Otherwise I make judgement calls in a similar manner to my response on autohits. If the circumstances don't allow for anything else, the character is in such a state they can't do something for themselves, or the character has a canonical skill that could be considered one of those things, ask me before you do it.
Post length preference?
My lengths vary depending on what's happening IC. Sadly I have trouble with depression and general highs and lows when it comes to my desire to write, so I can go around firing off posts like a cannon of awesomeness for a couple of weeks and then go the next two weeks to, like, months with nothing. I'm sorry. That being said, please oh please; do NOT harass me about my replies. I can’t stress this enough. Checking in is one thing, and I understand being excited, but saying 'Post pls' three times a day just because you hadn’t heard from me in a hour or because I’m not answering quickly enough is no bueno. Hounding someone for a reply really takes away the run in roleplaying, and no one wants that.
Wait time for replies?
I don't really have one? Like... I lose interest if it doesn't look like the thread is going anywhere or if there's not a whole lot I can reply to (or if I can think of a reply...) but that's it. It's fine if you want to quit mine or just skip my post too! Life exists outside of this hobby! If it's because you dislike the thread or want it to end, poke me about it!
Anything else?
- I like group threads, but I really suck at them.
- I don't like to rush or force myself when posting. Chances are I already KNOW I need to post but I'm feeling super sh**y and just can't. Repeatedly badgering me to reply, while with good intentions, just stresses me out.
- Don't throw a 'I think they'll get on cause they both like this thing!' pm at me and leave it at that, y'know?
- COMMUNICATION IS GREAT!
